Mainz Welcomes Burgundy Festival & Mantelsonntag This Weekend
Mainz is gearing up for a festive weekend with the Burgundy Festival and Mantelsonntag celebrations. The city centre will be transformed with carnival rides, historical bus tours, and free public transport. The event, hosted by Lüneburg, features the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region as the guest of honour.
The festivities kick off on Saturday, October 25, with the Burgundy Festival on Gutenbergplatz. Visitors can indulge in specialties from Burgundy and Jura from 11:00 to 17:00. Meanwhile, the city's historical side comes to life with bus tours starting at 'Alte Universität' at 13:30.
On Sunday, October 26, Mantelsonntag returns to the city centre. Shops will be open from 13:00 to 18:00, and the Burgund Festival will continue on Gutenbergplatz. The city has set up autumn festival and carnival rides on Schillerplatz to add to the merriment. For those attending, Mainz Mobility offers the 'Mainz-meets-Ticket' for free public transport.
