Magdeburg's New 'Minecraft'-Inspired Playground Opens in Salbke by Year's End

Magdeburg is building a new math playground on Gröninger Straße in Salbke, themed 'Blocks' and inspired by the game world 'Minecraft'. The project, part of the city's 2021-2025 playground area concept, is set to cost around €498,000 and should be completed by the end of the year. It replaces an earlier play area dismantled for infrastructure measures.

The playground's design was influenced by local schoolchildren through a participation process. It will feature two sand play areas, one for children aged 6 to 12 and another for younger children up to 5 years old. Additionally, it will include a table tennis table, extra seating, bicycle parking, and greenery. The project aims to promote social cohesion and is funded accordingly.

Construction may occasionally cause pedestrian restrictions. The playground is expected to enhance the district's recreational offerings, replacing the previous play and leisure area.

The 'Blocks' themed playground on Gröninger Straße is set to open by the end of the year, providing new recreational spaces for Salbke's children. The project, involving local schoolchildren in its design, aims to foster social cohesion and improve the district's play facilities.
