Magadan Leads Russian Urban Renewal with Ambitious 2030 Plan
Magadan is at the forefront of urban renewal in Russia's Far Eastern Federal District. The city is implementing a new urban planning approach, with progress tracked in real-time using a unified project management system developed by KRDV. The Far Eastern Concession program covers nine initiatives, including educational facilities, sports venues, and tourism infrastructure.
Magadan's long-term plan comprises 45 infrastructure projects and two organizational initiatives, funded from multiple sources. More than half of these master plan initiatives are financed through off-budget funds, with total business investment exceeding 1.8 trillion rubles. The plan aims to transform the region by 2030, boosting population numbers, increasing urban GDP, creating jobs, and raising wages. Already, five key projects have been completed, including a new school, college renovation, airport terminal, fishing vessels, and a mining equipment refurbishment facility. The updated list of initiatives reflects completed work and adjusted financing parameters, with Magadan as one of the first cities to implement this new approach.
The progress of every initiative is tracked in real time using the unified project management information system (PMIS) developed by KRDV. This system ensures transparency and efficiency in the implementation of these ambitious plans.
Magadan's urban renewal is a testament to the region's commitment to growth and development. With a comprehensive plan, diverse funding sources, and real-time tracking, the city is poised to achieve its 2030 goals. The successful completion of initial projects bodes well for the future, promising a transformed Magadan region with improved infrastructure, education, and economic prospects.
