Lucerne's annual carnival cruise will reach its peak on February 16 with the Güdismontag parade. Months of preparation have gone into crafting elaborate masks, costumes, and floats for the event. Swiss broadcaster SRF will air the celebrations live from 2:00 PM on SRF 1 and via livestream.

Around 80 groups—40 officially registered with the LFK and another 40 unofficial—will march through the city. Among them is the well-known Wey-Zunft, famous for its traditional wagon. Participants have spent months designing Grinde masks and costumes, while Guggenmusik brass bands have rehearsed their lively, offbeat tunes.

The parade will reveal this year's floats, many featuring whimsical or satirical themes tied to current events. Presenters Fabienne Gyr and local carnival enthusiast Sämi Deubelbeiss will guide viewers through the broadcast.

The Güdismontag parade marks the highlight of Lucerne Carnival, drawing crowds to see the handcrafted floats and performances. SRF's live coverage ensures the event reaches audiences beyond the city. The broadcast begins at 2:00 PM on February 16.
