Lübeck's New Prahls Wall Loop Offers a Scenic, Dog-Friendly Escape
A short, peaceful walking route has opened in Lübeck, offering locals and visitors a quick escape into nature. The Prahls Wall Loop is a 1.8-kilometre circular path, ideal for dog owners and those seeking a gentle stroll. Developed by Ruy Prahl, the route combines accessibility with scenic views along the Trave Canal.
The path traces the edge of the Trave Canal, providing a calm setting for walkers and their dogs. Its flat, easy terrain makes it suitable for senior dogs, puppies, or anyone wanting light exercise. A detour to Krähenteich Pond is often recommended, where reflections on the water and shaded benches create a perfect spot to rest.
Ruy Prahl, linked to the former Heinrich Prahl bus company in Hamburg-Holstein, led the project to make the route accessible. The loop is simple to reach, with nearby parking and good public transport connections. Walkers are advised to keep dogs on leads near roadside sections for safety.
Early mornings and evenings are the quietest times to visit. The path's short length allows for quick breaks or longer, relaxed walks—depending on preference.
The Prahls Wall Loop now provides a convenient urban retreat for dog walkers and casual strollers. Its combination of accessibility, gentle terrain, and canal-side scenery has made it a popular choice. The route remains open year-round, with no restrictions beyond leash rules in certain areas.
