Lowe's Introduces In-Store Kitchen Visualization Application
Get ready to virtually redecorate your dream kitchen, thanks to Lowe's latest tech venture! Starting this month, customers can test out the Lowe's Style Studio app on Apple Vision Pro devices at select stores.
Step into any of the three participating stores (Charlotte, North Carolina; North Bergen, New Jersey; and Sunnyvale, California) and don an Apple Vision Pro headset. With the help of a store associate, you'll be able to visually inspect pre-set kitchen styles, tweak fixtures, appliances, and materials to your heart's content. Once you've chosen your favorite design, simply tap a button, and voila! You'll receive a PDF or digital file via email, text message, or AirDrop to share with your contractor or dazzle your loved ones. Need to purchase the items? No problem! You can buy them online, in-store, or through the Lowe's mobile app.
Looking to give it a whirl? Pop in during regular business hours or book an appointment online at the participating locations.
Tech-Savvy Retail Innovations
Lowe's is steadily investing in tech innovations to enhance the shopping and working experience for both customers and staff. The Lowe's Style Studio launch in February is just the latest addition.
In late 2021, Lowe's introduced the Measure Your Space tool on its iOS app, allowing users to measure rooms and receive pricing estimates for flooring. The following year, the company created a digital replica of several of its stores, optimizing operations with a digital twin technology that combined spatial data with its own data.
Joining Lowe's, other retail giants such as Best Buy, Wayfair, and StockX have jumped on the Apple Vision Pro bandwagon, offering app-based product previews. With its Apple Vision Pro app, Lowe's encourages customers to design their own kitchens using the device's spatial computing technology, capable of generating up to 80 billion unique combinations.
Seemantini Godbole, Lowe's chief digital and information officer, expressed excitement, stating, "Being the first home improvement retailer to offer an Apple Vision Pro experience in select stores is an exhilarating part of our omnichannel journey. We believe Apple Vision Pro can significantly improve the in-store kitchen design experience, empowering customers with advanced spatial computing technology."
Digging Deeper
Despite recent sales declines attributed to a challenging housing market, Lowe's recent investment in technology promises exciting possibilities for the future. In its latest quarter, net sales dipped 4.4% year over year to $21.4 billion, while Q1 comparable sales fell 4% due to a decline in DIY big-ticket discretionary spending.
As retailers continue to explore the potential of immersive technologies like Apple Vision Pro, the opportunities for virtual try-ons, immersive storytelling, and product visualization are endless. Stay tuned for more updates as these tech titans reshape the retail landscape!
