Lindenberg's Winter Festival dazzles with 20 ice sculptures and live music
Lindenberg's annual Winter Festival transformed the town into an open-air art studio last Saturday. Under the theme Ice Magic in the Town, artists carved sculptures across 20 locations, with visitors casting votes for their favourites. The event also marked the first time the main activities took place in the central square.
The festival kicked off with ice carvers setting up at various spots around Lindenberg. When three participants withdrew, others quickly filled the gaps to ensure every planned location had a sculpture. Visitors wandered through the town, admiring the creations and voting for the best pieces.
Live Guggenmusik filled the central square, adding to the lively atmosphere. Josef Reitsam from Augsburg claimed first place with his whimsical gnome sculpture, receiving 182 votes. Selina Walter and Karl Friedrichs from Lindau secured second place with a fantastical design, while Dayan Muradi, also from Lindau, took third with an ice sculpture of a racing cyclist.
The sculptures will stay on display until weather conditions cause them to melt naturally.
This year's festival introduced a new central location for performances and activities. The winning sculptures, along with the rest of the ice art, will remain visible as long as temperatures allow. Organisers ensured all 20 planned sites featured completed works despite last-minute changes.
