Kiwiberries from Saxony at the Home-Garden-Leisure Fair - Leipzig's Haus-Garten-Freizeit Fair Spotlights the Hardy Kiwiberry Trend
This year's Haus-Garten-Freizeit fair in Leipzig is putting the kiwiberry in the spotlight. The event will bring together around 680 exhibitors from 24 countries to display the newest trends in gardening and outdoor living. Among the highlights, visitors can explore the hardy kiwiberry, a fruit gaining popularity for its ease of growth and rich flavour.
The kiwiberry originates from Northeast Asia but thrives in Central Europe's climate. It can survive freezing temperatures down to -25°C (-13°F), making it a resilient choice for gardens and balconies. The plant is also pest-resistant and requires little maintenance, appealing to both experienced and novice gardeners.
The oblong, oval berries ripen between September and October. They offer a sweet, fruity taste and pack high levels of vitamins C and E. Their versatility allows them to grow in beds, pots, or even on small balconies.
At the fair, running from January 31 to February 8, experts will lead talks on cultivating and growing kiwiberries. The event provides an opportunity for visitors to learn about this adaptable fruit while discovering the latest gardening innovations from international exhibitors.
