Lancaster County’s January Workshops Blend Crafting, Gardening and Nature
Lancaster County is offering a variety of gardening, crafting, and nature-themed events this January. From pruning workshops to terrarium-making sessions, there are options for both beginners and experienced enthusiasts. Many of these activities will take place online, while others provide in-person learning opportunities.
On January 10, Ken’s Gardens will host two winter terrarium workshops. The first, for adults, begins at 11 a.m. and costs $28.52. A second session, designed for children, follows at 2 p.m. with a fee of $23.18.
The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen will run a two-day metal clay jewelry workshop on January 16 and 23. Participants will use flower pressings to create unique pieces, with the course priced at $150. For gardeners, the Women’s Garden Club of Lancaster County is presenting a talk titled 'Pruning: What You Need to Know' on January 22. Organised in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the event costs $5 to attend. Penn State Extension is also offering a virtual pruning course aimed at beginners. The session is available for $39. Nature lovers can join Lancaster County Parks for 'Clever Crows' on January 27 at 6:30 p.m. The in-person event costs $2 per person. Starting January 13, the Horn Farm Center will launch Regenerative Roots, a virtual talk series. Each session requires a $5 minimum donation.
These events provide opportunities for learning new skills, from jewelry-making to gardening techniques. Most sessions are affordable, with both virtual and in-person formats available. Registration details can be found through the respective organisers’ websites.
