Marienschlucht am Bodensee reopens after eleven years - Lake Constance’s Marienschlucht gorge reopens after eleven years of closure

Lake Constance’s Marienschlucht gorge will welcome visitors again next spring after an eleven-year closure. The reopening follows a tragic landslide in 2015 that led to its shutdown. Local officials have now confirmed the date as March 28, 2025, marking the gorge’s return as a scenic destination.

The gorge first closed in 2015 after a landslide killed one woman and left a man injured. Authorities deemed the area unsafe, leading to a lengthy shutdown. Since then, extensive work has taken place to ensure visitor safety.

The March 2025 reopening will end an eleven-year wait for hikers and nature lovers. The upgraded walkway and viewing areas aim to provide both safety and breathtaking scenery. Officials have confirmed no further delays are expected before the gorge’s return.
