Lake Alpsee Sailing Season Concludes With Record Passengers
The sailing season on Lake Alpsee has drawn to a close, marking the end of a successful year for the Historical Alpsee Sailors’ Association. The volunteer crew is now looking ahead to winter maintenance and preparations for the 2026 anniversary season.
The Santa Maria Loreto, the association's historic cargo vessel, completed 349 trips during the 2025 season, carrying around 5,538 passengers. This was made possible by the dedication of the association's 150 members, with 25 regularly contributing to its operations.
The vessel, which has been operated and maintained by the association since its construction in 2003, requires constant care for its wood, rigging, sails, and onboard technology. After a busy season, the Santa Maria Loreto will be lifted from the water and moved to winter storage for upkeep.
The 2025 season also saw the introduction of new offerings, including Sundowner Cruises featuring beer and wine tastings. These additions proved popular with passengers, adding a new dimension to the traditional lake experience.
As the association reflects on the achievements of the 2025 season, it also looks forward to the 2026 anniversary season, which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Historical Alpsee Sailors’ Association Immenstadt and the 25-year anniversary of the Santa Maria Loreto. The Catholic community and related church organizations connected to the Loreto pilgrimage tradition are expected to participate in the celebrations.
