Lahnstein’s Repair Café launches 2026 with free fix-it sessions for all
A new series of Repair Café events will kick off in Lahnstein next month. The first watch of 2026 takes place at the Youth and Culture Center (JUKZ) on Monday, January 12, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Volunteers will be on hand to mend small electrical items that many commercial workshops turn away.
The Repair Café helps extend the life of household appliances like kitchen machines, vacuum cleaners, and stereo systems. No appointments are needed—residents can simply drop in with broken items. The initiative also doubles as a social space, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds.
More sessions are planned throughout the first half of the year. After January, the café will reopen on February 9, March 9, April 13, May 11, and June 8. Each event runs from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the same location. The project focuses on sustainability by reducing waste. Instead of discarding faulty gadgets, attendees can learn repair skills or get help fixing their belongings. Organisers have not named a specific leader for the 2026 sessions.
The Repair Café offers a free and accessible way to keep appliances in working order. By hosting regular sessions, the initiative cuts down on e-waste while fostering community connections. The first watch of the year begins on January 12 at JUKZ in Lahnstein.
