Lagos Transforms Obalende Under-Bridge into a Modern Y'ELLO Bus Park

The Lagos State Government has joined forces with MTN Nigeria to transform the Obalende under-bridge into a modern transport hub, dubbed the Y'ELLO Bus Park. This initiative seeks to replace a long-neglected area with a well-organised facility, as part of broader efforts to improve urban infrastructure and public transport. Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab announced the project, which aims to address issues like open defecation, illegal waste dumping, and poor sanitation that have plagued the area for years. The new Y'ELLO Bus Park will feature an organised transport terminal, over 60 public toilets, and kiosks for daily needs. A recycling drop-off station and LAWMA road camp will help manage waste, while a biodigester system will process wastewater efficiently. Solar-powered lighting will enhance night-time safety and support CCTV monitoring. Tree planting is also planned to boost air quality and enhance the area's appearance. The project aligns with Lagos State's goals to upgrade public spaces, improve mobility, and promote environmental sustainability. By replacing disorderly informal loading points, the hub is expected to make public transport safer and more reliable. The redevelopment will turn a previously problematic area into a functional, secure, and community-friendly space, setting a new standard for urban infrastructure in Lagos. The partnership between MTN Nigeria and the state government marks a key step in revitalising public facilities.
