Krasnoyarsk's Theater Square and fountains get a bold modern makeover by November

Krasnoyarsk has launched a major renovation of Theater Square and its iconic light-and-music fountains. The city aims to upgrade key public spaces in the centre, with both projects set for completion by the end of November. Contractors have already been selected for parts of the work, though detailed schedules remain undisclosed.

The Theater Square project will transform both the upper and lower tiers, including the stepped sidewalk along Bograd Street. Plans call for new rest areas, a stage, decorative architectural elements, and updated landscaping. Modern video surveillance and festive lighting will also be installed as part of the redesign.

Krasnogorpark has secured the contract for the Theater Square renovation, which carries a starting price of 11.3 million rubles. The tender required 18 different schematics, with participants submitting conceptual sketches for approval. A separate tender, valued at 2.3 million rubles, focuses solely on modernising the light-and-music fountains. As of March 2026, no public timetable or specific milestones for the chosen designs have been released. The city has not yet provided further details on the implementation phases or exact completion dates beyond the November deadline.

Once finished, the renovated square and fountains will offer improved recreation spaces for residents and visitors. The upgrades include functional, aesthetic, and security enhancements, all aligned with Krasnoyarsk's broader city-centre revitalisation plans. Officials have not announced any further updates on the project's progress.
