Khánh Hòa's seafood boom drives exports to $870 million in 2025
Khánh Hòa province has seen steady growth in its seafood industry, with exports rising year on year. The coastal area, stretching 500 kilometres and dotted with over 200 islands, supports a thriving marine economy. More than 82,000 local workers depend on the sector for their livelihoods. In 2025, the province produced a total of 106,890 tonnes of seafood, marking a 0.97% increase from the previous year. Exploitation contributed 90,091 tonnes, while aquaculture added 16,799 tonnes. The value of exports also climbed, reaching US$870 million in 2025, up from $829.6 million in 2024.
The region's 82 seafood processing plants supply products to 64 countries worldwide. Alongside traditional fishing, high-tech marine farming is expanding, with five local producers now raising yellow-fin pomfret and grouper offshore.
Despite progress, challenges remain. Infrastructure gaps, outdated technology, and insufficient investment in fishery facilities continue to hinder development. To address these issues, the Khánh Hòa Provincial People's Committee is updating policies. The aim is to attract more investment, modernise equipment, and open new markets for sustainable growth. The province's seafood sector remains a key economic driver, supporting tens of thousands of jobs. With ongoing policy reforms and technological upgrades, officials hope to strengthen production and export capacity in the coming years. The focus stays on balancing growth with long-term sustainability.
