Kazakh Film Yerekshe Champions Inclusivity with Local Para-Athletes
A new Kazakh film, Yerekshe, has premiered in the capital's Kinopark cinema. The event drew attention from top officials, including the Speaker of the Senate, who praised its role in promoting inclusivity. All ticket sales will fund support for children with disabilities.
The film tells the story of unbreakable determination and kindness, blending professional actors with real para-athletes. Unlike many productions, it did not cast foreign para-athletes in leading or key supporting roles. Instead, it focused on local talent to highlight everyday struggles and triumphs.
Before the screening, senators led by Maulen Ashimbayev, who also heads the Kazakh Boccia Federation, attended the event. Ashimbayev stressed that *Yerekshe* aligns with national efforts to build a more inclusive society—a priority echoed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The project was a joint effort between the Kazakhstan Boccia Federation, Kinopark, and Tiger Films production studio. Its message encourages audiences to see the world from the perspective of those who face daily challenges, where even small steps can feel like major victories.
Proceeds from Yerekshe will directly benefit children with disabilities. The film's release reinforces ongoing national discussions about equal opportunities and social inclusion. Officials and organisers hope it will inspire broader public support for these causes.
