Artistic Soul Departed: Kay Marinaro, a Talented Watercolor Painter, Leaves a Legacy
Katherine (Kay) Marinaro, a beloved artist and mother, passed away on July 11, 2025, at her home in Albuquerque, NM. Born on March 29, 1938, in Seattle, WA, Marinaro spent her life cultivating a passion for learning, appreciating, and practicing art.
Marinaro attended Potsdam State Teachers College and later studied commercial art at the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale and painting at West Valley College and Mission College in the Bay Area. Her talents in watercolor painting were renowned, with a particular affinity for capturing the essence of faces.
Marinaro was a 5th grade teacher until she became a mother. She continued to nurture her love for art, often painting during her free time. Her family remembers her as a dedicated artist, always striving to improve and explore new techniques.
Marinaro is survived by her husband, Edward L. Marinaro, her four children, their spouses, and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, her family prefers donations to the Lewey Body Dementia Association (L.B.D.A.), an organisation close to Marinaro's heart.
