Jersey's Seedy Saturday Swap Brings Gardeners Together for Free Seeds and Tips

A seed swap event is coming to Jersey this weekend. Seedy Saturday will take place at Le Tâcheron Farm in Trinity, inviting local growers and gardening enthusiasts to share seeds and celebrate community growing. The event aims to reduce waste while helping people discover new plants for their gardens. The gathering runs from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 28 March. Visitors can bring their own seeds to exchange for vouchers, which can then be swapped for different varieties. Those without seeds to share can still join by making a small donation towards running costs.

Free pollinator-friendly seeds and gardening tools will be available for attendees. Alongside seed swapping, the event will offer flower and vegetable seedlings, tea, coffee, and homemade cake. Gardening advice will also be on hand for anyone looking to improve their skills. Grow Jersey founder Sheena Brockie has encouraged everyone to attend, regardless of their gardening experience. The event stands out as a unique initiative on the island, with no other local groups regularly hosting similar sustainable gardening activities.

Seedy Saturday provides an opportunity for islanders to connect over gardening while promoting eco-friendly practices. Free seeds, tools, and expert advice will be available throughout the morning. The event also offers a chance to explore new plants and contribute to a greener community.
