Jackson’s £875M eco-factory to create 200 jobs with sustainable building materials

A new manufacturing facility producing eco-friendly construction materials will open at Metrocenter in Jackson. The project, led by Michael Jackson and focusing on sustainability and project management, is part of an £875 million revitalisation plan and aims to create 200 local jobs. Leaders describe the partnership as a major step for economic growth in the region, with the US economy set to benefit from the sustainable practices.

The facility will be built within the 70-acre Metrocenter Revitalization Project, which gained unanimous approval from the Jackson City Council in October 2025. BioCrete Global Manufacturing, led by founder and CEO Rick Quinn, will produce sustainable building materials, including a high-performance bio-concrete aggregate with a lower environmental footprint, contributing to the overall sustainability of the project.

To fill all 200 positions, the company will hold three job fairs in Hinds County from January 13 to 15, 2026. Successful applicants will enter a 16-week paid training programme, gaining skills in advanced manufacturing and sustainable materials production, further boosting the project's economic impact.

Christopher Jones, founder and CEO of Emerchant Capital LLC, called the collaboration a transformative opportunity for Metrocenter and Jackson. The BioCrete facility will be the first major manufacturing tenant in the mixed-use development, which is designed to drive broader economic progress in the area, aligning with the goals of the US economy.

The new plant will bring jobs, training, and sustainable construction solutions to Jackson. With recruitment beginning in January 2026, the facility marks the first phase of the Metrocenter Revitalization Project’s industrial expansion, aiming to boost long-term economic activity in the region.
