IWA OutdoorClassics 2026 turns crisis preparedness into a global business opportunity

The demand for crisis preparedness solutions has surged over the past five years, fuelled by global disruptions. Events like the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, and worsening climate disasters have pushed sales of emergency equipment and energy independence products to record highs. Now, the IWA OutdoorClassics trade fair in Nuremberg will spotlight these trends with a dedicated focus on crisis readiness.

The IWA OutdoorClassics, running from February 26 to March 1, 2026, aims to be the world's top event for hunting, shooting sports, outdoor living, and civilian security. This year, its IWA VISION segment will centre on crisis preparedness, under the theme 'From Survival to Crisis Preparedness—Opportunities for Trade'. Organisers expect around 30,000 visitors from over 120 countries and nearly 1,100 exhibitors, showcasing everything from generators to solar power systems.

Key speakers will address urgent challenges in the field. On February 27 at 11:30 AM in Hall 1, Herbert Saurugg, a globally recognised expert on blackouts, will discuss large-scale power failures. The following day, Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann will deliver a keynote on crisis preparedness at the shooting sports expert stage at 11:40 AM.

The fair's focus reflects broader market shifts. Since 2020, sales of emergency gear like generators and water purifiers have doubled, while solar panels and home batteries have seen annual growth of 30-50%. Demand spikes followed the 2022 Ukraine invasion, which drove a 40% increase in Europe, and the 2023-2025 hurricane seasons, which boosted North American sales.

The IWA OutdoorClassics 2026 will bring together experts, businesses, and policymakers to explore solutions for growing global instability. With rising demand for energy independence and emergency supplies, the event highlights how industries are adapting to a world where crisis preparedness is no longer optional. Exhibitors and speakers will present the latest innovations to an international audience.
