Irene Neuwirth's Venice Canal home blends bold design with personal warmth

Jewellery designer Irene Neuwirth has opened the doors to her newly remodeled home along the Venice Canal in Los Angeles. Working alongside interior designer Sarah Shetter, she transformed the space into a warm, layered retreat filled with personal touches and bold design choices.

The house blends architectural character with cosy, lived-in charm. Soaring ceilings with exposed wood beams frame the rooms, while walls and shelves brim with books, art, and collected objects. A standout feature is the living room's green floral sofa, upholstered in Schumacher's Lotus Garden fabric, which anchors the space. Nearby, a built-in desk niche displays artwork by Geraldine Neuwirth, adding a personal connection.

The kitchen balances function and style with a Wolf range, brass faucets over a butler sink, and full-wall shelving. A sculptural ladder leans against the shelves, while a long communal table encourages gatherings. Pattern plays a key role throughout—Liberty London wallpaper lines the powder room, and Cole & Son's *Strawberry Tree* design wraps a bedroom. Even the master shower features blush-pink tilework for a soft contrast. Texture and colour further soften the home's structure. Vintage wood pieces, woven fabrics, and layered wallpapers create depth, while the rooftop deck offers an airy escape with canal views.

Neuwirth and Shetter's collaboration resulted in a space that feels both curated and effortless. The home now reflects the designer's love for art, pattern, and warmth—all while embracing its Venice Canal setting. Every detail, from the floral sofa to the brass fixtures, contributes to its inviting atmosphere.
