Ireland invests $1.62M to strengthen Vietnam’s climate resilience by 2026

Ireland has committed an extra $1.62 million to boost climate resilience in northern and central Vietnam for 2025-2026. The funding will support the Resilience First initiative, which works across 13 communes in Tuyen Quang, Quang Tri, and Phu Tho provinces. The programme focuses on vulnerable groups, including women, ethnic minorities, and people with disabilities.

The Resilience First initiative aims to build climate resilience through four main goals: improving disaster preparedness, making schools safer, empowering women economically, and promoting green finance. During its 2024-2025 phase, the project delivered results through community-led efforts, such as climate action plans, infrastructure upgrades, and school safety programmes.

The additional funding will expand the Resilience First initiative’s work in 2025. The programme has already strengthened community resilience through local partnerships and targeted support. Its focus on women’s economic empowerment and climate adaptation continues to show measurable results in vulnerable regions.
