15th Youth Theater Festival in Osterholz-Scharmbeck Celebrates 25 Years of Plattmüüs
The town of Osterholz-Scharmbeck recently played host to the 15th Youth Theater Festival, an event organized by the Lower Saxon and Bremen German Stage Association (NBB). The three-day festival, which took place at the municipal cultural center, aimed to provide a platform for learning, growth, and creative inspiration for young theater enthusiasts.
The festival was a celebration of Plattmüüs, the youth group of the Theater in OHZ (TIO), marking their 25th anniversary. The event featured a diverse workshop program designed to help participants develop new acting skills, with a focus on body language, voice, improvisation, and character development.
Each festival day began with a warm-up program on the sports field at Gut Sandbeck. The TIO team, who hosted the event for the third time this year, ensured that the participants had a comfortable stay, with overnight accommodations provided in the sports hall of the Menckeschule. Food and drinks were also provided for everyone.
The festival's theme was centered around theater performances and development. Arnold Preuß, president of the German Stage Association, expressed his satisfaction with the festival's organization on the first day, confirming that theater playing is a great way to achieve personal growth. Ulrike Schütze from Wilhelmshaven and Timon Finke, 2nd chairman of the TIO, moderated and welcomed the participants on the first festival day.
A total of 120 participants, including children, young people, and their supervisors, attended the festival from various locations like Neuenburg, Emden, Nordenham, Haselünne, Aurich, Wilhelmshaven, and Cuxhaven. The festival revolved around six performances by the guests, with the first evening offering disco and karaoke for entertainment.
On Friday evening, Plattmüüs performed their piece "The Neverending Story" at Gut Sandbeck. The organizers emphasized that the festival was not just about learning and growth, but also about providing entertainment and enriching experiences for the participants.
The festival's slogan, "We shape the future," was printed on the pink t-shirts worn by all participants, symbolizing their commitment to shaping their own futures through theater.
