Indian Railways Celebrates Progress: 110 Stations Revamped, Kavach Safety System Deployed

Indian Railways is celebrating its progress with the inauguration of 110 redeveloped stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Meanwhile, the indigenous Kavach Automatic Train Protection system is being swiftly deployed on major routes, with over 1,200 locomotives now equipped. The festive season sees an increase in train operations, and the network's electrification nears completion.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is transforming 1,300 railway stations, with 110 already reopened to passengers. While the ten fastest-renovated stations remain unranked, the project's pace is evident. Complementing this is the rapid deployment of Kavach, an indigenous safety system developed by Indian Railways. It's now protecting trains on busy routes like Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai.

To cater to increased festive demand, over 12,000 special trains are running for Diwali and Chhath. This comes as 99% of Indian Railways' network, spanning around 60,000 km, has been electrified, enhancing efficiency and reducing emissions. In the past decade, nearly 35,000 km of new tracks have been laid, expanding the network's reach.

The Railways' commitment to safety has been recognised with 41 RPF personnel receiving President's Medals for Meritorious Service and Jeevan Raksha Medals for saving lives. The Union Minister personally felicitated these heroes on the occasion of RPF's Foundation Day.

With 150 Vande Bharat and 30 Amrit Bharat Express trains now operational, Indian Railways continues to offer world-class travel experiences. The ongoing developments, from station redevelopment to safety enhancements and network expansions, reflect the organisation's dedication to progress and passenger comfort.
