Ilteration 3: Update Dispatch
The art world is gearing up for an exciting event next year, as the Local ART LABS for sustainable artistic creation as part of the E-ART Project are set to take place from October 23 to October 26, 2025. Although the exact locations for these Labs are yet to be announced, the event promises to be a significant step towards promoting eco-friendly art practices across Europe.
The E-ART Project, which hosted its first E-Residency in April, is now moving into its next phase with the launch of in-person Sustainable Art Labs from June to September 2025. Each ART LAB will last for five days and provide an immersive, collaborative experience focused on sustainable artistic creation.
Artists from diverse backgrounds who are eager to explore sustainable and collaborative art practices are encouraged to apply. The workshops during the ART LABS will focus on six key material areas: natural pigments and paints, paper, textiles, bioceramics, recycled plastics, and found objects.
Each day of the ART LABS will begin with a theoretical session led by experts, followed by hands-on workshops using eco-friendly materials, training sessions on sustainability in the arts, collaborative creation, and peer exchange. Group sharing at the end of each day fosters a strong sense of connection and purpose.
Artworks developed during the ART LABS will be included in an international digital and local exhibition. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity for artists to showcase their work and contribute to a growing archive of sustainable art.
The E-Residency, an online space for artists, makers, and activists, served as a precursor to the ART LABS. It lasted for five days and focused on integrating sustainability into artistic work. Participants emphasized the importance of having spaces for creative minds to meet, share struggles, and build a collective vision for climate-conscious art.
As the world grapples with climate change, the need for sustainable practices in art becomes increasingly important. The E-ART Project recognizes this need and aims to provide practical tools and spaces for empathy, exchange, and care.
For updates on the Local ART LABS, follow E ART on Instagram and Facebook. More information about the ART LABS can be found on www.ourwebsite.eu. Each partner will organize an ART LAB in Italy, Greece, Spain, Sweden, Bulgaria, and Ireland, with open calls for participation in each national ART LAB to be published soon.
Join the E-ART Project and be a part of the green transition in the arts. Together, we can create a more sustainable future through art.
