Ibiza’s Mondrian and Hyde hotels earn elite Green Key sustainability honors
Two of Ibiza's premier hotels, Mondrian Ibiza and Hyde Ibiza, have been awarded the prestigious Green Key certification, placing them among an elite group of only three hotels on the entire island to receive this honour.
The Green Key certification, granted by the international Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), recognises the hotels' commitment to sustainability. The criteria include internal environmental management, resource conservation, staff engagement, guest information, and community involvement.
The hotels have embraced best practices, transitioning to sustainable solutions like solar panels and increasing recycling rates. They have also integrated responsible practices into every aspect of the guest experience, from design to waste management. Nora Pujol, head of sustainability and ESG at the hotels, highlights the importance of water management in their certification process.
In addition to their environmental efforts, the hotels support local cancer associations and collaborate with the Cala Llonga neighborhood association for community projects. They also raise awareness about protected species, local flora and fauna, and natural spaces among guests and employees.
Mondrian Ibiza and Hyde Ibiza have been recognised by the local Ibiza town hall for their high recycling index and sustainable practices. Their Green Key certification is a testament to their dedication to environmental responsibility and community engagement.
