House of Tao in Goa merges ancient craftsmanship with modern serenity

A new home in North Goa has redefined quiet living with its thoughtful design. Called House of Tao, the 5,000 sq ft property blends ancient techniques with modern simplicity. Its creators aimed to craft a space that slows life down and invites reflection.

The project sits along Parra Road in Mapusa, designed by Amita Kulkarni and Vikrant Tike of SAV Architecture. Their vision draws from monastic spaces, emphasising calm and stillness. The interiors use soft, skin-like tones to create warmth and restfulness.

Traditional brick vaults form the home’s core, reviving old masonry methods. This approach avoids the heavy use of concrete seen in many modern builds. The design team, including contributions from Foster & Partners, focused on grounding the space in natural materials and timeless craftsmanship.

House of Tao stands as a quiet challenge to fast-paced living. Its brickwork, earthy palette, and thoughtful layout encourage residents to pause. The home proves that modern comfort can coexist with age-old building traditions.
