Homey Pro Mini simplifies smart home automation with local control

Athom, a Dutch smart home company, has launched the Homey Pro Mini as a simpler alternative to complex local hubs. Priced at €249, the device aims to make smart home automation more accessible. It arrives in December 2025, offering an easy-to-use option for users who want local control without technical hurdles.

The Homey Pro Mini supports Matter-over-Thread and Zigbee right out of the box. This means it can connect to a wide range of smart devices without extra bridges or complicated setups. The hub is positioned as a user-friendly rival to Home Assistant, which, while powerful, often requires advanced technical knowledge.

Unlike some competitors, the Homey Pro Mini avoids cloud dependency, keeping automation local. Athom’s focus on simplicity could appeal to users frustrated by overly complex systems. The €249 price tag places it in the mid-range market, balancing affordability with functionality.
