Historic Nizhny Novgorod House Reopens After Renovation

A historic home in Nizhny Novgorod, once the residence of pharmacist Nikolai Evinius, has reopened following a meticulous renovation. The building, a cultural heritage site since 2017, has been restored to its original glory, preserving its unique charm and significance. The home, constructed in the late 19th century, is a prime example of residential architecture from that era in Nizhny Novgorod. It was the home of Nikolai Evinius, grandson of the city's first pharmacist, and a member of a renowned pharmacist dynasty. During the Soviet era, the building was converted into a multi-apartment home, undergoing minor renovations. The recent renovation, completed in 2024-2025, aimed to restore the home to its original appearance. The restoration team focused on preserving decorative facade elements, ensuring the building's cultural heritage is maintained. The project was made possible by private investor Yana Terekhova, who was dedicated to restoring the home to its former glory. The total investment volume was 23 million rubles. The reopened home now serves as a museum dedicated to Nikolai Evinius, offering visitors a glimpse into the past. A cafe on the first floor serves 'healing pomades', while historical rooms on the second floor provide an immersive experience of the home's rich history. The renovation not only preserved a piece of Nizhny Novgorod's cultural heritage but also transformed it into a vibrant space for the community to enjoy.
