Historian Traces Lipp Family Roots Six Centuries in New Book

Dr. Richard Lipp, a historian from Reutte, Tyrol, has traced his family roots back six centuries to the Ostallgäuer villages of Seeg and Rückholz. His extensive research has been published in a comprehensive book titled 'Lipp in Seeg and Rückholz - An Allgäuer Family History from 1386 to 2021', now available in four-color printing with many handwritten documents and images.

Lipp's journey began in 1960 when he met local historian Georg Guggemos and Seeg's pastor Anton Glas for information. His research spanned over six decades, culminating in the book's publication in 2021, 600 years after the first mention of the Lipp family name in 1386. The book lists 352 families with 1820 people over 172 pages, including general information and 26 family trees.

The Lipp dynasty was founded by a matriarch, the 'Innkeeper of Hitzleried', in 1386. The family prospered as leaseholders of the Bishop of Augsburg from 1424, gaining prominence. Only the Lipp families in Seeweiler survived the 30 Years' War and the plague in 1648, and all those with the name today in Seeg and Rückholz trace back to this origin.

Dr. Lipp's book, 'Lipp in Seeg and Rückholz - An Allgäuer Family History from 1386 to 2021', is available for purchase at Buchhandlung Bruhns in Fuessen, the Tourist Information Seeg, and Bäckerei Café Lipp in Rückholz. This detailed work is a testament to Lipp's dedication and a valuable resource for anyone interested in the rich history of the Lipp family and the Ostallgäuer region.
