Christmas markets across Hessen are in full swing, offering festive cheer until the new year. Some will close before December 30, while others extend their runs into early January. Visitors have a variety of locations to choose from, each with its own unique atmosphere and schedule.

In Gießen, three markets remain open until December 30: the Christmas Village at Berliner Platz, the downtown Christmas market, and the Advent market on the church square. Nearby, Seligenstadt’s Kleiner Budenzauber also welcomes guests until the same date. Meanwhile, the Wiesbaden Kinder-Sternschnuppenmarkt and Offenbach Christmas market will shut their doors slightly earlier, on December 29.

Wetzlar’s Weihnachtsflair runs until December 28, pausing only on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Kassel’s Märchenweihnacht and Herborn’s Christmas market follow a similar schedule, staying open until December 30 but closing for three days from December 24 to 26. For those looking to extend the festive season, Hofheim’s Eiszauber and Bad Nauheim’s Kiespromenade Christmas market remain open the longest. Both will continue trading until January 11, 2026, giving visitors extra time to enjoy the holiday spirit.

The latest closing dates in Hessen fall in early January, with markets like Bad Nauheim’s Kiespromenade running until January 11, 2026. Most others wrap up by December 30, though some take short breaks over Christmas. Residents and tourists alike still have plenty of chances to explore the region’s festive offerings.
