Harlow's forgotten corner bursts to life with MurWalls LIVE street art

Harlow Town recently hosted MurWalls LIVE, a vibrant street art event that transformed a neglected part of the town centre. Despite limited publicity, the day brought together over fifty artists, live music, and activities for children—all aimed at revitalising an area once seen as the town's least appealing spot.

The event took place along the route from the back of Harlow Town to the entrance of the Harvey Centre. More than fifty street artists spent the day painting large murals, giving visitors the chance to watch their work unfold in real time. At the end of the session, the artists cleared away their supplies, leaving behind a series of finished pieces.

A DJ played music throughout the day, while food trucks offered refreshments. A Hip Hop dance group also performed, adding to the lively atmosphere. For younger attendees, the Cockney Green organised a special section where children could paint their own wall. Robin and Amelia led the activity, guiding kids in creating ocean-themed artwork. Many locals, however, were unaware the event was happening. The lack of widespread advertising meant some residents only discovered it by chance. The location itself had long been viewed as the worst part of the town centre. Organisers hoped the event would help change perceptions by filling the space with colour and creativity.

The completed murals now line the path from Harlow Town to the Harvey Centre. The event gave artists a platform to showcase their skills while offering families a day of entertainment. Though poorly promoted, it marked a step toward breathing new life into a previously overlooked area.
