Harburg Town Hall Open House Remembrance Event: Complimentary Guided Tours Available
Harburg Town Hall to Open Doors for Heritage Day Tours
The historic Harburg Town Hall in Bavaria is set to open its doors for visitors during the Heritage Day celebration on 6 September. The event offers a unique opportunity for families and history enthusiasts to explore the architectural wonders of the town hall, designed by Christoph Hehl in the style of Flemish Renaissance.
The tours will take place at the Harburg Town Hall, which was completed in 1892 as a replacement for the previous one at the Sand that was too small for administrative tasks. The magnificent facade, divided into a projecting central section and two smaller side risalites, serves as an impressive introduction to the building.
For families, a special tour will be offered at 3 pm, promising an exciting journey through the town hall and its past. The tour will visit the Great Hall, adorned with historical stained-glass windows, and offer insights into the present-day Town Hall Square. The tour will also include the representative staircase and the clockwork of the tower clock, located under the roof.
In addition to the family tour, there will be two tours for adults on 6 September at 9:30 am and 12 pm, lasting approximately 90 minutes each. These tours will not only focus on the fourth Harburg Town Hall but also its history. The tours will be professional and led by Fabian Pleiser.
Registration for the tours is required by email to [email protected] by 4 September due to limited spaces available for the tours. The town hall will open its doors and gates for three free guided tours from 6 to 8 September, providing an excellent opportunity for everyone to learn about the Harburg Town Hall and its rich history.
