Hands-on fruit tree pruning workshop comes to Großenhain this March

A fruit tree pruning workshop will take place in Großenhain on March 16, 2023. The event is designed to help participants maintain traditional orchard meadows while learning key skills in tree care. Organisers have also arranged a preparatory seminar in Zabeltitz for those looking to build foundational knowledge before attending.

The workshop runs from 2:00 to 6:00 PM in the city park at Pollmerallee, opposite the adventure playground. Participants will receive hands-on guidance in pruning techniques, identifying crown shapes, and assessing tree health. The session is open to individuals with prior experience or those who have attended a related seminar.

Organisers include the City of Großenhain, Sebastian Wunsch, and volunteers from the traditional orchard meadow management group. For registration, Dr. Fanny Paschek, Großenhain's climate protection officer, can be contacted via email at [email protected] or by phone at +49 3522 304-265.

Following the workshop, a Traditional Orchard Roundtable will be held at Mücke at 6:00 PM. The evening event offers networking opportunities alongside food and drinks.

Those new to the topic can attend a fruit tree pruning seminar in Zabeltitz on March 7, 2023, to prepare for the hands-on session in Großenhain.

The workshop focuses on preserving traditional orchard meadows through practical training. Participants will leave with improved skills in pruning and tree assessment. Further details on attendance numbers for the roundtable remain undisclosed as of February 21, 2026.
