HaloHalo to Close Down on January 15, 2023; Founder Hints at New Beginnings

HaloHalo, the Filipino lifestyle brand renowned for its banig-inspired bags, is set to close down on January 15, 2023. The brand's founder, Cara Sumabat-Limjap, has hinted at new beginnings following the closure.

HaloHalo was established in 2013 by Cara Sumabat-Limjap and her brother Rocco Sumabat. The brand started with handwoven bags inspired by the traditional Filipino banig, blending traditional charm with contemporary aesthetics. This unique approach quickly gained popularity, leading to the brand's expansion into homeware and clothing lines, all produced locally in the Philippines.

In 2017, HaloHalo won the 'Product of the Year' award at ArteFino and represented the Philippines at the prestigious Maison et Objet International Trade Fair in Paris. Despite its success, the brand has announced its closure, sparking an outpouring of support and appreciation on social media.

HaloHalo's closure marks the end of an era for the brand that put a modern twist on traditional Filipino craftsmanship. While the future of the brand remains uncertain, Cara Sumabat-Limjap's hint at new beginnings suggests that the spirit of HaloHalo may continue in some form.
