Halle’s Birth Forest Initiative Plants 2,000 Trees for Newborns and Climate

A tree-planting event for the Halle Berry Forest will take place on November 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Dölauer Heide near Köllmer Weg. Organised by St. Elisabeth and St. Barbara Hospital alongside the city of Halle (Saale), the initiative invites families, friends, and the public to join in planting around 2,000 saplings. The project aims to gift a tree to every child born at the hospital in 2025 while supporting nature and climate protection.

The idea for the communal planting was developed by the city of Halle (Saale) and the citizen initiative Halle pflanzt Bäume. Participants are encouraged to bring their own spades, though a limited number will be available to borrow on-site. Those attending should gather at the Am Heidesee parking lot by 9:30 AM before walking along a marked path to the planting area. The Köllmer Weg forest parking lot will remain closed to traffic for the duration of the event.

Each child born at the hospital this year will receive a dedicated tree, with the event fostering community involvement in climate action. The newly planted Halle Birth Forest will expand green spaces in the region while providing a lasting connection between families and the local environment.
