Freezing temperatures are set to hit Saxony-Anhalt in the coming days, with nighttime lows dropping well below zero. In response, the city of Halle has opened an emergency announcement to provide warmth and refuge for homeless individuals over the weekend and into Monday.

The Notquartier im Haus der Wohnhilfe, located at Böllberger Weg 186, will remain open 24 hours a day on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. With nearly 200 available spaces, the shelter offers a place for people to warm up, sleep, and receive meals.

While Halle has confirmed this continuous emergency shelter near me provision, other major cities in Saxony-Anhalt—such as Magdeburg and Dessau-Roßlau—have not yet announced similar multi-day, round-the-clock shelters. Those in need in these areas are advised to contact local municipal hotlines, social services, or charities like Diakonie, Caritas, or the German Red Cross (DRK) for the latest support options. The extreme cold has prompted authorities to urge homeless individuals to seek shelter. Halle’s emergency facility is one of the few confirmed locations offering extended protection during the freezing spell.

The emergency shelter in Halle will operate non-stop for three days, ensuring those without housing can escape the dangerous cold. For now, no other cities in Saxony-Anhalt have announced comparable 24/7 provisions, leaving local services as the primary point of contact for assistance.
