Gütersloh Preserves Decades of Russian Cultural History in City Archives
The Forum of Russian Culture Gütersloh e.V. has handed over its historical records to the Gütersloh City Archives. The collection spans decades and includes documents, photographs, and event materials. The transfer aims to preserve the association’s legacy for future research.
In 2025, the Forum Russischer Kultur Gütersloh e.V. provided its archives to the city’s official records office. The donation features program booklets, posters, correspondence, and other items documenting the group’s activities. These materials will now be stored, catalogued, and made available to the public in the archives’ reading room.
Dr. Günter Bönig, the Forum’s chairman, described the handover as essential for safeguarding the association’s history. He highlighted its role in German-Russian cultural exchange within Gütersloh. Julia Kuklik, head of the City Archives, emphasised the value of these records in showcasing civic engagement and the region’s social diversity.
The Gütersloh City Archives has also called on other local organisations and individuals to contribute their own historically significant materials. Those wishing to donate can reach out via email at julia.kuklik@[website] or by phone at 49 5241 / 82-2302.
The donated materials will be processed and prepared for public access. Researchers and residents will soon be able to explore the Forum’s contributions to cultural life in Gütersloh. The archives continue to welcome further donations to expand its historical collections.
