Gunda Kamleiter celebrates 105 years as Oberasbach's oldest resident

Kunigunde 'Gunda' Kamleiter has marked her 105th birthday at the Willy-Bühner senior care home in Oberasbach. Born in 1921 in Nuremberg-Eibach, she is now the oldest resident of the facility and the town itself. Family, local officials, and staff gathered to celebrate the milestone with her last week.

Gunda Kamleiter spent her early years in Nuremberg before moving to Erlangen in 1933. She lived there until 1944, the year she married merchant Karl Kamleiter at the age of 20. The couple welcomed their son, Jürgen, later that same year.

In 2007, her husband passed away, but she remained close to her growing family. Since January 2013, she has called the Willy-Bühner Home in Oberasbach her permanent residence. Her days there are brightened by visits from her son, grandson, and two great-grandchildren, who she cherishes deeply. The birthday celebration included a visit from Oberasbach's First Mayor, Birgit Huber, as well as Waltraud Heiter, the head of welfare and social services at the Bavarian Red Cross. Gunda herself finds simple pleasures in watching the trees outside her window, observing how they change with each season.

Gunda Kamleiter's 105th birthday highlights her long life, from Nuremberg to Oberasbach. She remains an active part of her family's life and enjoys quiet moments in her surroundings. The town and care home now recognise her as their oldest resident.
