GSPCA Boosts Shelter Efficiency with New GMC Pallet Truck Donation

The Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) has received a new GMC pallet truck to support its daily operations. The donation from WMS aims to improve efficiency at the busy shelter, where staff and volunteers care for thousands of animals each year.

The GSPCA handles over 3,000 animals annually, with demand for supplies constantly rising. Wild species like hedgehogs, pigeons, gulls, bats, and small mammals such as rats and mice make up a large part of the intake, alongside other rescued animals.

The new GMC pallet truck is already making a difference. It allows staff to move heavy loads—such as animal feed and bedding—safely across the site. GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne thanked WMS for the donation, calling the GMC equipment invaluable in day-to-day work.

Tim Pellett, Training & Community Officer at the GSPCA, also highlighted the benefits. He explained that the GMC truck improves safety and speeds up bulk deliveries, reducing physical strain on the team.

The donation comes as the shelter continues to manage high volumes of animals and supplies. With the GMC pallet truck now in use, the GSPCA expects smoother operations and better support for its staff and volunteers. The equipment will play a key role in maintaining the shelter's ability to care for wildlife and domestic animals alike.
