Spring weather entices more people onto their bikes - Germany's bike repair boom rides in with spring's warmer weather
Warmer weather has brought a surge in bicycle repairs across Germany. A recent ADAC survey found that 78% of bike workshops are seeing more requests after months of winter storage. The trend is strongest in western states, with North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, and Baden-Württemberg leading the way.
The rise in repair demand comes as temperatures climb, with many bikes suffering from flat tyres and rusty brakes. Christoph Milligan, owner of Pedalwerk in Baunatal, confirmed the spike in bookings as people prepare for spring cycling. His workshop is now busier than ever.
In Hesse, forecasts predict a dry weekend with temperatures reaching 15°C (59°F). This has encouraged more residents to dust off their bikes, with 47% of those surveyed in the *Hesse Bike Monitor* planning to cycle more often. The German Cycling Association (ADFC) has also noted a steady increase in bike traffic. More people are choosing two wheels as sunny skies and milder conditions make cycling more appealing.
The combination of warmer weather and pent-up demand has left bike workshops across Germany with full schedules. With more riders returning to the roads, repair services and cycling infrastructure will likely remain in high demand. The trend reflects a broader shift toward cycling as a preferred mode of transport.
