Germany's Aluminum Exports Defy US Tariffs, Rise 5.1% in 2025
Germany's aluminum exports have seen a 5.1 percent increase in the first eight months of 2025, with the USA being a significant market, despite a 25 percent tariff imposed by the US government. Meanwhile, aluminum imports to Germany rose by 5.0 percent in the same period.
Germany's aluminum exports to the USA, though down by 7.4 percent, still amounted to 2.5 billion euros, making up 6.2 percent of all German aluminum exports. The USA ranks as the tenth-largest customer for these products. The Netherlands remains Germany's top supplier for aluminum imports, with a value of 1.4 billion euros.
The EU continues to be the primary market for German iron and steel products. Poland is the largest customer, with exports worth 3.7 billion euros. Despite the US tariff, exports to the USA of aluminum, steel, and iron decreased by only 2.3 percent. France is Germany's most important customer for aluminum products, with exports valued at 1.2 billion euros.
Germany's aluminum exports have shown resilience, with a notable increase despite the US tariff. The USA remains a substantial market, while the EU and key European countries continue to be significant trading partners for German aluminum and iron products.
