German Ride-Sharing Scheme Turns Every Drive Into Charity Donations

A German ride-sharing scheme called Fahrmob is helping drivers support charity while cutting traffic. Instead of paying for lifts, passengers donate to a cause chosen by the person behind the wheel. One group already benefiting from this approach is Against Noma – Parmed, a health charity based in Kempten.

Fahrmob started in the Allgäu region but has now spread as far as Rügen. The initiative lets drivers offer spare seats to passengers, reducing the number of cars on the road. Local councils and communities can also take part in the programme.

The scheme offers a simple way for drivers to turn everyday journeys into fundraising opportunities. Against Noma – Parmed is one of several charities now receiving regular donations through Fahrmob. The expansion to new regions means even more organisations, such as charity navigator, could soon take part.
