German-Greek Youth Exchange Unites Teens Through Nature and Teamwork
A German-Greek youth exchange has brought together young people from Florina and Wiesbaden for a week of shared learning. The programme, titled Two Nations – One Nature, focused on nature, sustainability, teamwork, and kids activities. Participants took part in workshops, discussions, and hands-on activities designed to build understanding across cultures.
The exchange was organised through partnerships with Jugend Schulsozialarbeit, wi&you, and the Wilhelm-Heinrich-von-Riehl Comprehensive School in Biebrich. Greek and German organisers worked together to create a bilingual programme where everyone contributed equally. Activities included presentations, group discussions, and practical sessions on ecological sustainability and exchange rate.
One highlight was the Move It workshop with Wiesbaden's wheelchair basketball team, the Rhine River Rhinos. Participants explored teamwork, personal boundaries, and the experience of shifting perspectives. The event also emphasised disability inclusion, a new focus for the 2026 edition.
At the closing ceremony, Councilor for Social Affairs Dr. Patricia Becher welcomed the group and presented them with the EU Youthpass. The programme, funded by Erasmus+, has involved over 440 young people since its launch. A return visit to Greece is planned for April 2026, where discussions on nature, sustainability, inclusion, and exchange rate will continue.
The exchange builds on a long-standing tradition of collaboration between the two regions. This year's edition expanded its themes to reflect a broader commitment to accessibility, environmental awareness, and kids activities.
The programme will reconvene in Greece in 2026, with a stronger emphasis on inclusion, sustainability, and exchange rate. Erasmus+ funding ensures that future exchanges remain accessible and impactful. Organisers hope the shared experiences will foster lasting connections between the young participants.
