Fully Funded Aviation Master's Program Opens Doors for NYC Residents
A new scholarship program is offering New York City residents a fully funded Master of Science in Aviation Management. The initiative, launched by York College (CUNY) in partnership with the JFK Redevelopment Program, aims to train the next generation of aviation leaders. Successful applicants will also secure paid internships and fellowships at key transport hubs. The JFK Redevelopment Opportunity Scholarship will support around 50 participants each year. It targets students from specific ZIP codes in Queens and Nassau County, ensuring local residents benefit from the $19 billion transformation of JFK International Airport. To qualify, applicants need a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum GPA of 3.0.
The program combines academic study with hands-on experience. Students will work on large-scale redevelopment projects, gaining expertise in terminal operations. Paid placements are available at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey or directly at JFK Airport, with roles in engineering, aviation operations, project management, sustainability, IT, cybersecurity, finance, and procurement. Beyond financial support, the scholarship provides networking and mentorship opportunities. Industry veterans involved in JFK's modernisation will guide participants through the curriculum, which focuses on strategy, logistics, and leadership for complex airport systems. The application deadline is **June 1, 2026**, with the program set to begin shortly after.
The scholarship removes financial barriers for local students pursuing a career in aviation. Graduates will enter the workforce with a master's degree, practical experience, and industry connections. Applications remain open until next year's deadline.
