From Monochrome to Color: Natalie Jahangiry's Evolving Design Journey

Natalie Jahangiry, a fresh voice in the Open House contributor circle, shares her insights on balancing family-friendly decor with personal style. Her journey, from a monochrome-loving Londoner to a colour enthusiast, is a testament to her evolving aesthetic.

Jahangiry's fascination with grey and monochrome began in her Putney apartment, where she first experimented with exposed brick, raw wood, and Edison bulbs. Her initial style was a blend of industrial and boho beach vibes.

The co-founder of Design & Refine Interiors and Nat's Design Studio, Jahangiry's Wimbledon home was a sanctuary of 'grey hysteria', with copper accents and black-and-white photography. However, her husband's request for colour sparked a new chapter. She started with a dusky pink nursery and a pop of duck egg blue in the kitchen.

Over time, Jahangiry's style evolved. She now embraces warmer, more lived-in aesthetics, softening sharp black-and-white spaces with warm grey and taupe tones. Her latest project, an office, features an earthy red wall paired with warm furnishings and unexpected pops of yellow and lilac.

From her Putney beginnings to her colourful present, Natalie Jahangiry's design journey is a testament to her adaptability. She continues to help small businesses with branding and creates spaces that balance functionality with personal style.
