Yakutia.News. In our modern capitalist world, finding a home for free isn't exactly a walk in the park. But some companies are bucking the trend and offering their employees this perk. Reporters from Yakutia.News had the opportunity to learn more about this experience during a recent trip to the Aldan District.
The Joint Stock Company "Yakutia Railways" has been implementing a housing construction program for its employees for quite some time.
Previously, in an interview with Yakutia.News, the Deputy General Director of AO "AK "YR," Vladimir Miroshnik, pointed out that housing is one of the key areas of the company's social policy.
We spoke with Nikolai Kataev, the head of the capital construction department, about the construction of residential buildings.
Nikolai Afanasievich hails from the village of Pavlovsk, Megino-Kangalassky District. He graduated from the Novosibirsk State Architectural and Construction University with a degree in "Heating, Gas Supply and Ventilation." In 2008, he and his wife Antonina moved to Aldan due to Antonina's employment with "YR." She worked at "YR" for three years, and Nikolai Afanasievich worked on the construction of the railway to Nizhny Bestyakh. He was a geodesist and deputy chief in the company "Severo-Vostok Transstroy." In 2014, Nikolai joined "YR" as an experienced specialist.
The work with housing at "Yakutia Railways" has two main directions. The first is the construction of service housing for its employees, which is carried out by the company’s Capital Construction Department.
According to Nikolai Kataev, the department once focused primarily on infrastructure for railway transportation, including repairs and the creation of new objects. However, it quickly began to engage in the construction of service housing, which is essential for the company's employees.
The housing program of AO "AK "YR" aims to retain young professionals in production, who are distributed after graduation from educational institutions within the framework of targeted training," the official call of "YR" states.

Contrary to what you might think, the cost per square meter is quite low. But with prices rising, we often build at one price but receive payment at another. For us, however, the goal is not to profit, but to bear a certain social responsibility. It helps that we can transport construction materials ourselves, says Nikolai Afanasievich.
Yakutia.News has already commissioned five residential buildings in the villages of Lenin, Lebediny, and the city of Aldan in the Aldan district, as well as five residential buildings in Lower Bestyakh. The departmental apartments are furnished with necessary furniture and household appliances.
Construction of houses continues not only in Lower Bestyakh and the Aldan district. Plans are underway to start construction of service housing in Neryungri.
Yakutia.News' houses in Aldan are easily recognizable. They are neat, colorful houses with "checkerboard" patterns. We visited one of the apartments and confirmed that it is warm and quite comfortable. An employee can move in and already has everything, except perhaps kitchen utensils. They only pay around 5-6 thousand rubles a month for utilities.

The second direction is the construction of residential buildings in the Aldan district within the framework of the republican targeted program for resettling citizens from dilapidated and emergency housing.
It all started in 2014 when the first resettlement program was launched in the Aldan district. At that time, there were no large builders capable of taking on the construction of houses. Therefore, within the framework of social and economic partnership with the administration, it was decided to participate in the construction of multi-apartment buildings, - recalls Nikolai Afanasievich.
At that time, a team of capital construction service was formed. There were big plans and prospects for the future. There was interest because the service's activities were multifaceted - from apartment repairs to large megaprojects.
With the start of the program for resettling citizens from dilapidated and emergency housing, "Yakutia.News" did not remain on the sidelines. Their participation was necessary for the implementation of such a large-scale program.
Currently, JSC "Yakutia.News" is actively engaged in the demolition and resettlement of dilapidated and emergency housing in the Aldan district under the federal program.
Participation in the program also enables the company to provide housing to its employees in Tommot and the Sunny microdistrict in Aldan for BAM and AYAM veterans who moved to Aldan with the construction and still live in temporary housing. They will receive housing on a priority basis.
According to Nikolai Katayev, without the participation of "YDY" in the region, it is unlikely that such a large-scale plan would have been implemented. Twenty-six multi-apartment buildings were built in Aldan, Tommot, and the village of Yakokit.
The main goal of participating in the resettlement program is to assist in the demolition and resettlement of dilapidated and dilapidated housing.
In 2025, "Yakutia Railways" plans to build and commission six more houses in Aldan and Tommot within the framework of the program to resettle citizens from dilapidated and dilapidated housing.
The head of the capital construction department also noted that a kindergarten project in Tommot is currently in the design phase. It is planned to sign an agreement with the district administration for the construction of a quarter with a school and kindergarten. It is likely to be a combined project, including both service housing and housing for demolition and resettlement from dilapidated and dilapidated housing.
