Frank Zander invites 2,500 Needy to Christmas Dinner - Frank Zander invites 2,500 Needy to Christmas Dinner
Frank Zander’s annual Christmas dinner for homeless and disadvantaged people will return for its 31st year on December 24, 2025. The event, held at Berlin’s Estrel Hotel in Neukölln, is set to welcome around 2,500 guests. Politicians, celebrities, and hundreds of volunteers will join to support the long-standing tradition of providing warmth and festive cheer to those in need.
The evening will begin with a festive goose dinner, served by high-profile waiters including Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) and former mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD). Other attendees will include Brandenburg’s Minister President Dietmar Woidke (SPD) and politician Gregor Gysi (Linke), all lending their support to the cause.
Before the meal, guests can receive free haircuts from hairdresser Petra Biernoth and her team. Entertainment will follow, with performances by artists such as Nino de Angelo, Annemarie Eilfeld, Mitch Keller, and Nicole. Every attendee will leave with practical gifts, including sleeping bags, hygiene products, and pet food for those with animals. The event relies on a network of around 80 Berlin organisations that distribute invitations to those in need. Over 750 volunteers applied to help, with helpers selected through a lottery system. What began as a local initiative has since inspired similar Christmas celebrations for the homeless across Germany. Zander’s event remains one of the largest and most well-known, drawing attention to the ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities during the holiday season.
The 31st edition of Frank Zander’s Christmas dinner will bring together thousands of guests, volunteers, and public figures. With meals, gifts, and entertainment, the event aims to offer a moment of comfort and dignity to Berlin’s homeless and disadvantaged. The tradition continues to grow, reflecting a wider movement of solidarity during the festive period.
