Fractal Design’s Refine Chair Blends Gaming and Office Ergonomics in a Premium Debut

Swedish hardware company Fractal Design has launched its first office chair, the Refine. This hybrid model blends gaming and Microsoft Office features but leans more toward professional use. The chair stands out for its build quality, ergonomic design, and premium materials.

The Refine is available in five configurations, with upholstery choices of fabric, mesh, or Alcantara. Prices range from €549 to €899, depending on the selected options. Its sturdy aluminium base and high-quality fabric upholstery ensure durability, while a synchro-tilt mechanism allows smooth reclining for added comfort.

Assembly is simple enough for one person, though the chair arrives in a heavy, bulky package weighing nearly 38 kg. The manufacturer recommends it for users between 1.65 m and 2.00 m tall, supporting weights from 60 kg to 125 kg. However, some adjustments—like the armrest depth—feel too loose, while the seat depth adjustment is overly stiff.

Fractal Design backs the Refine with a five-year warranty on the frame and a three-year warranty on padding and upholstery. This marks the company’s first seating product and the first chair reviewed by tech publication ComputerBase.

The Refine combines premium materials with ergonomic features, catering to both office and gaming users. Its warranty coverage and sturdy construction suggest long-term reliability. The chair’s minor adjustment flaws do little to overshadow its overall quality and design.
