Finnish President Stubb immortalized as a chainsaw-carved bird scarer
A 31-year-old woodworking enthusiast in the Finnish city of Pori carved a wooden sculpture of Finnish President Alexander Stubb using a chainsaw and chisel on pine logs, then painted it, Izvestia reports in its Telegram channel.
The craftsman noted that he enjoys working with wood but had previously only carved animal figures, making this his first attempt at sculpting a human likeness.
"It turned out to be harder than I thought," he admitted. "Stubb's sculptures often appear in the news, and they show human features in much finer detail than animal figures. That's why it took quite a bit of time."
He explained that the idea was meant to be lighthearted: the figure was intended to scare birds away from his garden while also entertaining his neighbors.
According to him, both goals have been achieved—the birds stay away from his plants, and his neighbors happily stop by to take photos with the scarecrow. He added that he is pleased with his creation.
The artist emphasized that he had no intention of offending anyone and views his work as "a playful example of good-natured folk art."
